A weekend full of appointments with popularizers and scientists from 7 European countries: it is the ISLAND OF EINSTEIN, a festival of scientific shows scheduled from Friday 30 August to Sunday 1 September in the evocative setting of Isola Polvese, the most extended area of Lake Trasimeno (PG).
The event, curated by Psiquadro, an organization involved in science communication and teaching projects, includes a busy program of over 100 events in three days aimed at promoting scientific culture, bringing visitors closer to science in an unusual way through juggling, experiments, puzzles and interactive open-air museums, with astronomical cruises on the Trasimeno, to observe the stars under the expert guidance of an astronomer far from the light pollution of the mainland.
This year the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will also make its debut at the festival, bringing board games and fantastic stories to the island to lead children of all ages to discover the earth's crust, volcanoes and earthquakes: " Escape Volcano", "Puzzle Plates" and "Giuseppa and the Dragon Tremotto" are just some of the activities that await visitors.
Furthermore, a replica of the INGV Seismic Monitoring Room will be set up which will allow visitors to enter the "heart" of the Institute, following the evolution of seismicity in the Mediterranean area in real time and getting to know the main monitoring tools and research by seismologists.
One month from the European Researchers' Night 2019, an international event dedicated to research to be held in over 300 European cities on Friday 27 September, Einstein's Island will also be an opportunity to present a national preview of the Nights that will take place in Italy .
