The Annual Conference of the Neapolitan Coordination of Women in Science will take place next Thursday 16 May at Palazzo Gravina (Naples).
Now in its twelfth edition, the event is dedicated to the Environment, understood as the interaction between ecological conditions and anthropic impact, and will be divided into three sessions: Natural Environment, Urban Environment and Sustainable Development and Female Entrepreneurship.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will also participate in the Conference with the Director of the Vesuvius Observatory of the Institute, Francesca Bianco, and the INGV-OV researchers Elena Cubellis, Maddalena De Lucia, Lucia Pappalardo and Flora Giudicepietro to talk about the role of women in scientific research, their contribution to the study of Earth Sciences and the volcanic risk associated with the Neapolitan volcanoes.
The Day aims to offer an overview of the structure and criticalities of the natural and urban environment of the Neapolitan metropolitan area, with the aim of identifying environmental redevelopment practices that meet a different, feminine, vision of development sustainable.
The Neapolitan Coordination of Women in Science was in fact born with the aim of tackling the problem of the low representation of women in research and scientific careers and is made up of female researchers from the Federico II University of Naples, the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli and by research institutions such as INGV, the National Research Council (CNR) and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN).
