EARTH MOVEMENTS YESTERDAY AND TODAY
No one has ever gone down that deep. To this day it is impossible to reach the deepest parts of the earth. So our knowledge concerns the most superficial part of the planet. However, we are able to take a picture of its interior by recording its movements: earthquakes. To these events we therefore owe the knowledge about the internal structure of the Earth.
For many centuries, humanity has lived in fear of earthquakes, but today we have a good body of knowledge that allows us to know why, where and how they occur. And maps are the tools that show us where earthquakes and tsunamis occurred in the past and inform us every day about the ongoing seismic activity thanks to the real-time seismic monitoring and surveillance of the territory.
