INGV organizes for the 10th edition of the Science Festival of Genoa
What a Volcanic Laboratory! The rocks of Etna tell stories.
A laboratory where it is possible to become a scientist for a day: perform analyzes on lava, ashes and lapilli, touch and compare the different types of volcanic products, discover how effusive and explosive volcanic rocks are sampled, learn about the main characteristics of the materials erupted from the Etna, both by directly observing small samples and thanks to the spectacular images obtainable from a 3D microscope. An experience for everyone, to get to understand some of the magmatic processes "hidden" inside a volcano and to understand the risks and effects on the environment associated with this spectacular natural phenomenon.
