The Micromag 2900/3900 AGM/VSM magnetometer allows you to study the hysteresis loops of the samples, i.e. the curves of variation of the magnetization as the applied magnetic field changes. In this way it is possible to determine some identification parameters of the magnetic minerals contained in the samples, with applications ranging from the interpretative completion of paleomagnetic data to innovative methods of environmental magnetism applied to studies on atmospheric pollution.
The instrument has remarkable characteristics of sensitivity and precision, to measure the magnetic properties of even small fragments of rock and small quantities of dust; it is also equipped with a cryostat, to obtain these properties near absolute thermal zero.
