The instrument for routine work in our laboratory is the optical microscope with transmitted polarized light. In our case it is a Leica DMLP, equipped with two eyepieces (x12,5) and a series of objectives, including a 100 to reach 1250 magnifications. A digital photographic camera is mounted on the microscope for taking photographs and/or real-time observation for educational purposes.
