4 -7 December 2019 INGV participated, at the Testaccio slaughterhouse in Rome, in the sixth edition of Isola della Sostenibilità, the national project curated by the homonymous social promotion association in which institutions, research bodies and companies met to educate the new generations to sustainable development.

10 December 2019 INGV hosted a representation of the PSIDS Countries, a group of Small Pacific Island Developing States, guest of the National Civil Protection Service for a week of advanced training, exchange of experiences and good practices related to the management of natural risks.

10 - 12 December 2019 INGV took part in the first edition of the European Expo-Forum on the New Space Economy organized at the Nuova Fiera di Roma by the Edoardo Amaldi Foundation and Fiera Roma to talk about the potential of the space economy.

11 December 2019 The new INGV headquarters, directed by Professor Emanuele Tondi, was inaugurated at the Geology Center of the University of Camerino.

12 December 2019 The "Thalassa, marvels submerged by the Mediterranean" exhibition has been inaugurated, scheduled at the MANN - National Archaeological Museum of Naples until 9 March 2020. INGV participates in collaboration with the "Aldo Moro" University of Bari, the "Parthenope" of Naples and ENEA.

13 December 2019 INGV participated in the study day AIQUA - Italian Association for the Study of the Quaternary "Sea level rise: causes, effects, impacts and scenarios expected on the coasts in 2100", organized in Rome at the Marconi hall of the National Council of Research (CNR).

16 December 2019 The team of researchers of the SENECA Project, coordinated by INGV, began its 40-day mission in tents in extreme conditions in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, with the aim of evaluating the concentrations of gases and their emissions from the permafrost - the perennially frozen soil typical of the polar regions - and from the surface layers subject to thaw.
