The X' PERT PRO Diffractometer, the flagship instrument of the INGV X-Ray Diffractometry Laboratory, has an X-Ray tube which generates electromagnetic radiation which, thanks to an interchangeable system of slits, is collimated on the previously pulverized sample and placed in horizontal housings. The diffracted rays, thus obtained from the interaction of the electromagnetic waves with the sample, will then be intercepted by a detector and transformed into electrical impulses, which in turn will be switched into a diffraction spectrum.
