In this thematic area, studies aimed at the reconstruction and characterization of the history of volcanic systems are carried out. The area includes the analysis of the nature and extent of deposits and volcanic products aimed at the reconstruction of pre-eruptive, eruptive and post-eruptive phenomena and the creation of the related databases. It also includes geological, tefrostratigraphic, tephrochronological, magnetostratigraphic, statistical, archaeological and historical research investigations.
