The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology for the year 2013 promoted two Civil Service projects aimed at girls and boys aged between 18 and 28 interested in carrying out a one-year experience in the field of research on the subject geophysics and volcanology.

The two projects are:

- "Science and dissemination: a global approach to the dissemination of Earth science knowledge”. The project, which will mainly be developed in the area of ​​the province of Rome, aims to bring young people closer to the dynamics of scientific dissemination, supporting them with the researchers engaged in these activities on behalf of INGV. 

Place of implementation: INGV - Central Administration / Scientific, Technical and Cultural Services Centre.

Places available: 10.

Duration: 12 months.

Unsuitable list

All winning volunteers will receive direct communication of "starting service" from INGV, which will specify the day, time and place of effective start to service.
Candidates assessed as "suitable", if they have indicated their willingness to take over the project in their application, could be contacted in the coming months in order to fill any vacant positions.

- "Volcanoes and earthquakes in Sicily”. The activities envisaged by the project will take place throughout the Sicilian region and, more specifically, in the volcanic areas and those with the greatest seismic risk in the region. The study of a geologically unique reality such as Sicily has the aim of the project to introduce young people to the world of research applied to the observation and monitoring of the geophysical and volcanological dynamics present in the area.

Place of implementation: INGV – Section of Catania / Etna Observatory.

Duration: 12 months.

The UNSC announcement – National Office for the Civil Service, provides information on the requirements of the candidates, the presentation of the application and the reasons for exclusion.

 

Admission requirements and conditions - Italian citizens, regardless of gender, who, on the date of submission of the application, have turned eighteen and not exceeded twenty-eight years of age and meet the following requirements can participate in the selection: 
- be Italian citizens; 
- not having been sentenced, even if not definitive, to imprisonment of more than one year for an intentional crime or to a lesser imprisonment penalty for a crime against a person or concerning illicit detention, use, port, transport, import or export of weapons or explosive materials, or for crimes concerning belonging to or aiding and abetting subversive, terrorist or organized crime groups.

The participation requirements must be met on the expiry date of the deadline for submitting applications and, with the exception of the age limit, maintained until the end of the service.

Young people cannot apply if: 
a) already perform or have performed civil service as volunteers pursuant to law n. 64 of 2001, or who have interrupted the service before the scheduled deadline; 
b) have an ongoing work or paid collaboration relationship with the Entity that carries out the project, or have had such relationships in the previous year lasting more than three months.

It is possible to present only one application for participation by choosing a single national civil service project among those promoted by the announcement of the National Civil Service Office.

 

Presentation of the application 

The application drawn up according to the model referred to in in attachment 2 and related by the declaration of which in attachment 3 of the aforementioned announcement must reach INGV by at 14:00 on 4 November 2013 signed and accompanied by a copy of an identity document. Applications arriving after this deadline, those not signed or to which a copy of an identity document has not been attached, will not be taken into consideration.

The application can be submitted by mail or by hand.

Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted.

The application form in paper format must be sent to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology by at 14 pm on 00 November 4.
