The INGV-Osservatorio Etneo communicated that during the morning the eruptive activity at the Voragine Crater of Etna further intensified, passing from occasional ash ejections to almost continuous Strombolian activity, which does not produce significant ash emissions. The Strombolian activity is accompanied by strong detonations felt in various towns of the Etna belt and neighboring areas (Zafferana Etnea, Aci S. Antonio, Pedara, etc.).
The SO2 flow measured via the Etna FLAME network at 14 pm recorded an average daily value of approximately 4800 t/d, bordering on the attention threshold of 5000 t/d. Intraday SO2 data indicated maximum flow values between 6000 and 8000 t/d. The amplitude of the volcanic tremor remains at high values, the location of the source of the tremor is confined to the area of the Crater Voragine, at altitudes ranging between 2800 and 3000 meters above sea level. From about 11, the activity
infrasonica has undergone an increase in the rate of occurrence of the events, which are located in correspondence with the Voragine Crater. The ground deformation monitoring networks have not detected any particular anomaly.
